What drives the number up

Whether they do the thinking or just the prose. "Here are our notes, make them readable" is cheap. "Help us figure out what our token is actually for" is consulting, and priced like it.
Technical depth. A writer who can read your contracts or a mechanism-design paper and catch an error is rare and charges for it. A writer who paraphrases your Notion doc is not.
Turnaround. A 48-hour draft costs more than a two-week one. A same-day rush can double the rate.
Revisions and scope creep. Fixed-price quotes usually include one or two revision rounds. Open-ended "until we are happy" is either expensive or a source of conflict.

Say who the document is for. An exchange listing team, a grant reviewer and a retail holder need different one-pagers. Pick one primary reader.
Give the honest version of your token. If value accrual is "governance only for now", say so. Writers who have to guess will guess optimistically and you will spend your revision round pulling it back.
Name your real competitors. The writer will find them anyway; telling them up front saves a round.
Provide numbers with dates. "TVL $40M as of August 2026" not "lots of traction".
